Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed is the host of Big League Impact and Yahoo Sports’ Fantasy Impact Charity Challenge on Sunday of the NFL’s Week 9.

100% of the contest entry fees will go directly to Ahmed’s campaign to fund a sustainable farming project in the Dominican Republic. For a $10 donation, participants receive one entry into the online contest by assembling a fantasy lineup to compete for unique prizes donated by Ahmed.

Prizes include bat chips – pieces of the baseball bat that Ahmed used to hit two home runs in a win against the San Francisco Giants on August 5 (you can watch the second one here), cut crosswise – that he then autographed. The top three places will also each receive an autographed Rawlings baseball.

The project that Ahmed has chosen for his Charity Challenge follows the water infrastructure and filtration project in the Monte Plata region in the Dominican Republic that he successfully funded as part of his Striking Out Poverty campaign this past season. The farming effort, implemented by Food for the Hungry, begins by developing land to produce cacao – a significant commerce opportunity for farmers in the community – and other high-nutrient foods. The farmers then receive specialized training to strategically grow the crops and sell them through a partnership with exporters that lead to sustainability for years to come.

The deadline for entries is 1:00pm ET on Sunday, November 4 when Sunday’s NFL games begin. If you’d like to donate directly to Ahmed’s campaign without entering the contest, you can do that here.
