Our Swing For Impact event at Topgolf in Auburn Hills was an incredible success. We’ve raised more than $34,000 — and counting! — to help Matt & Ashley Boyd continue their great work for Kingdom Home.

Through their nonprofit Kingdom Home, the Boyds have secured a future for several kids in Uganda rescued from the child sex trade (and for those at risk). They’re funding the construction of safe homes for boys and girls, allowing them to continue their education and reach a better life.

“This is just another step in letting children live as they should — living joyfully, protected in a safe place. Because of tonight, we were able to raise money to really put a dent in building permanent homes.”

Matt Boyd, who is enjoying a career year on the mound, was joined by more than a dozen of his Tigers teammates. Fans were paired up in bays with Tigers players, allowing them to get to know their favorite players better and spend time hanging out for a great cause.

“Tonight was a lot of fun. I love supporting my teammates and everything that Matt & Ashley are doing with Kingdom Home. I just really believe in what they’re doing. … I think what we did tonight was a step in the right direction and hopefully we can continue to build on it.”

Through a silent auction with items from the Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons and several local businesses, as well as sponsorships and donations from the Motor City community, Big League Impact is proud to announce that more than $34,000 was raised from this event — with more donations still coming in.

“This town supports its baseball team, it supports its players and understands everything they’re doing. This town and me personally feel compelled to support them, to help them, and appreciate that leap to make it happen.”
