Minnesota Twins legend Joe Mauer will be among the participants in next weekend’s Swing For Impact event at Topgolf in Brooklyn Center.
The event — 6:30 p.m., Aug. 4 at Topgolf, 6420 N. Camden Ave. — benefits the Twins’ All Win campaign. Even if you don’t enjoy golfing, this is a fun night to hang out with Twins players for local charities. Entry to this VIP event includes food and drinks, as well as the chance to win autographed items in a silent auction.
A variety of Twins and Twins alumni will be on hand, joining fans in the fun:
- Kyle Gibson
- Jake Odorizzi
- Trevor May
- Taylor Rogers
- Jason Castro
- Joe Mauer
- Tim Laudner
- Jesse Crain
- Glen Perkins
Our last Swing For Impact event, featuring Big League Impact co-founder Adam Wainwright near St. Louis, raised more than $51,000 for the Cardinals’ All Win campaign.
The Twins, currently sitting atop the American League Central, have pledged to donate with each win for these great causes:
- Pitcher Kyle Gibson: The Sheridan Story (Battling child hunger) & Tandem (Support for at-risk mothers and children)
- Pitcher Taylor Rogers: Rogers Family Foundation (Mental health for first responders in Minnesota & his home state of Colorado)
- Pitcher Trevor Hildenberger: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities
- Catcher Jason Castro: The Sheridan Story
- Pitcher Trevor May: Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare
- Outfielder Byron Buxton: Minnesota Military Family Foundation (Support for families of military personnel)
- Pitcher Jake Odorizzi: Animal Humane Society
These are charities chosen by the players, who have a personal connection to these causes. For instance, Trevor May has been a champion for adaptive gaming, and recently visited Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare to play Fortnite with a child who has cerebral palsy. Taylor Rogers’ original dream was to become a firefighter, continuing the proud family tradition for a 5th generation. The All Win campaign allows him to use his platform as a Major League Baseball player to help first responders in Minnesota and Colorado.
The event also benefits Help One Now’s efforts to save at-risk children in Haiti.
