For the past two years, Arizona Diamondbacks Gold-Glove Winning Shortstop, Nick Ahmed, and his wife Amanda have been working with Striking Out Poverty to help people in the DR. They have funded water irrigation, purification and a farm for the people in El Mogote, DR. This year they will be using their funds and influence to fund a community center for the people of El Mogote. This will complete the work that began four years ago as Food For The Hungry identified and trained the leaders in El Mogote to be able to build and manage these systems in a way that will see them be completely independent in less than ten years.
This year, Nick and Amanda have discovered a cause that is near to them in Phoenix. The Phoenix Rescue Mission provides shelter, food, clothing and training for the most vulnerable families and individuals in the Phoenix area.
In 2019, Nick and Amanda are matching up to $75,000 to support the building of the Community Center and to provide relief for mothers and children in the Phoenix area.
They will be hosting a fundraiser at Topgolf in June, a Fantasy Football Draft at Chase Field in August and are currently matching funds donated on the Pledgeit platform for every hit that Nick tallies in 2019.
